What is a “racconto” video or wedding highlight reel? What does it mean?
Racconto is actually an Italian word that (as far as we know) has no literal translation, but it is used to refer to a “retrospective” meant to summarize or review past events. What we commonly call a “flashback”.

When a film uses a racconto, it refers back to the past to narrate something that already occurred.
In the part that matters to us, in the world of social events (Quinceañeras, Weddings, etc.), it’s about having the video (and/or photos!) of the celebration ready on the SAME DAY. In fact, since the word “racconto” has become a bit dated, we also call it “SDE Video” for “Same Day Edit” or End-of-party video or Wedding highlight reel.
For this, in addition to the videographers and photographers in charge of the coverage, we add an editor (or several, if we are editing photos and video) to our team who are responsible for working on the material—literally—while the celebration is still happening.

Why is it great to have a Same Day Edit or Wedding Highlight Reel video?
Having your SDE (Same Day Edit), recap, or wedding highlight video ready on the very same day of the party is great for several reasons:
– The first and most obvious has to do with anxiety: think about it, on the VERY same day of the party you’ll already have your video ready! No waiting around, the footage is ready to enjoy and share instantly 😊. Can you imagine waking up the day after the party and watching the video while you have breakfast?
– If there are screens at your wedding or party, you can project the video before the party ends. Seeing images of what happened just a few minutes ago (literally) never ceases to surprise everyone who watches it! (And we truly love seeing those surprised expressions)
– In addition to projecting the video at the party, you can send it to all your guests as a way of saying thank you (or to those who couldn’t attend), and it is the best way to relive the moment.
And how does a PHOTO recap work?
Although historically editing footage on the same day of the party was only common for video, some time ago we began to wonder, what if we did the same with photos? And it was a success!
Just as we do with wedding videos, we add a photo editor to our coverage team who selects, edits, and post-processes the images throughout the party.
By the end of the event, we have a photo preview ready, consisting of a variable number, but usually between 100 to 150 photos approximately. A real win!
