A little history
Around 1900, the Alvear siblings (Elisa, Josefina, and Carlos María) traveled with their respective partners specifically to Paris in search of an architect capable of designing their homes. They commissioned the person considered the best of his time, Arch. René Sergent, specialized in the Versailles and Neoclassical styles, who also designed other iconic buildings such as the Errázuriz Palace and the Bosch Palace.

Some time later (about 50 years ago), the palace was purchased by the Durini family and was completely restored between approximately 1960 and 1970, when it acquired its current identity.
The Palace (now belonging to SANS SOUCI S.A.) ceased to be merely a residence and is currently dedicated exclusively to commercial activity: it is used as a location for various social and corporate events, and is also rented as a space for different productions, commercials, presentations, etc.; it is also one of the most beautiful places for weddings.

Halls and spaces of Palacio Sans Souci
The gardens of Palacio Sans Souci
They are especially important at the Palace, providing the perfect frame for the imposing structure. They were designed by the famous and renowned French landscape architect Carlos Thays.
In events held at the Palace, they play a fundamental role, whether for enjoying cocktail hours, for holding outdoor ceremonies, or simply as a visual backdrop.

From a photographic standpoint, being able to use the gardens for sunset couple portraits without having to move from the location is priceless!
Gallery and terraces
These are the spaces that surround the palace, and they are used a lot during events: whether during cocktail moments or during the party, as they function as relaxation spaces a bit further away from the dance floor and the loud music.
Winter garden
It is the space located right next to the Imperial Hall and functions as a kind of “annex”; usually, for weddings and 15th-birthday parties, this is where the dance floor is set up. It has a huge curved and completely glass-enclosed window with a (beautiful!) view toward the East garden of the palace.

Also, on some occasions, it serves as a “Plan B” for cases where outdoor activities are planned but the weather does not allow for enjoying the gardens, such as a wedding ceremony.
Imperial Hall
It is the “heart” of the palace, located physically in the center of the building, and it is where the banquet (lunch or dinner) is usually set up.
The palace also has other smaller peripheral halls, which for very large parties function as annexes: Dining Room / Golden Hall / Blue Hall / Mirror Room.

Bridal Suite
A great advantage of the Palacio Sans Souci is that it also offers a bridal suite (Ibera Suite), which, besides serving as optional accommodation, is usually used by the bride to get ready before the party, with all the comfort that having the getting ready at the same place as the party entails!
Furthermore, the suite provides a beautiful setting for capturing that moment in both photos and video, and it features an enormous terrace balcony with a view of the park.
Additionally, the Bridal Suite is also available to anyone who would like to enjoy the experience of staying at the Palace.

Exclusive Restaurant at the Palace
In addition to events, you can enjoy the palace in a different way, as under the name “LA TABERNA DEL PALACIO,” there is a sophisticated gastronomic offering managed by exclusive chefs. It operates by reservation and is open to the public year-round.
Planning a Wedding at Palacio Sans Souci
In a chat we had with Marina from the Commercial Department, she shared some extra details that you will surely find interesting:
What is the venue’s capacity?
During the pandemic, we began hosting events for as few as 20 guests up to approximately 70. (At this link, you can read more about What Weddings Are Like in the Era of Coronavirus!). In normal times, the ideal range is a minimum of 50 up to 300 guests.
How long does an event last?
Normally, the party lasts for 8 hours, although if a ceremony is included, it is often extended to 10 hours in total. Eventually, extra hours can be added; however, due to our internal regulations, an event cannot exceed 12 hours total. The client chooses the start time, always keeping in mind that the latest end time is 6 am.

How do you handle event vendors?
We work with exclusive vendors for decoration, catering, and DJ services.
How far in advance do you recommend booking?
For high-season dates, at least 1 year to 1 year and a half in advance approximately. The sooner, the better!
Do you recommend any specific season for certain types of events?
Generally, the most sought-after times are Spring and Summer, as that is when you can make the most of the gardens and all the outdoor spaces.
What makes Palacio Sans Souci different?
Definitely the gardens are a major differentiator, as they allow for outdoor ceremonies; but furthermore, the very essence of the place is the differentiator in itself. There aren’t many locations where you can—literally—get married in a palace 😊
