Lowlands Club: An English Style Venue in Buenos Aires

The Lowlands Club is a pearl in the middle of the sea. In the 10 years we have been photographing weddings, we have found very few wedding venues in the City of Buenos Aires like the Lowlands Salón. In this post, we are going to tell you why it is one of the best wedding venues in Buenos Aires, but also some of the challenges we have found there.

The English style of the Lowlands Club

This is perhaps the biggest attraction this venue has for small weddings. Its unmistakable English style makes you feel like you have been transported to a mansion in the middle of London the moment you walk in. This small party venue in the heart of the Belgrano neighborhood functions as a club for a few select members with British roots, and they have taken care of every last detail. In fact, inside there is also a mini-museum with hundreds of original pieces brought from Great Britain, which we have had the pleasure of touring and enjoying the (many!) times we have photographed there. The best part is that the venue requires very little effort (and investment) for styling, as it is already packed with details that make it a “ready to party” hall.

The Lowlands Club garden

There are very few venues in Buenos Aires (if any) that have a garden the size of Lowlands. Its beautiful green park allows it to be used for both ceremonies and open-air receptions. The park features distinctive details like its clock and benches, which are also ideal if you have an English-themed wedding in mind.

The covered gallery at Lowlands Salón

The gallery at Lowlands is perfect for both summer and winter weddings, sunny days or rainy days, as it has the option to add a side awning if the weather doesn’t cooperate. This gallery can also be used as a Plan B for the ceremony in case of rain, which makes it extremely valuable. Its ceiling canopy is also in an English style, and the walls are decorated with shields that complement this beautiful English-style party venue.

Are there churches near the Lowlands Club?

Of course! Two blocks away is the Nuestra Señora de las Mercedes Church (Echeverría 1371, CABA), which you can walk to. And a little further, but no more than a couple of minutes away by car, is the Santiago Apostol Parish (Tte. Gral. Pablo Ricchieri 3189). This makes Lowlands an excellent option if you are planning a church wedding.

Does Lowlands have a room for getting ready?

Yes! On the first floor, there is a room perfect for getting ready if you prefer to avoid having to travel to or from a nearby hotel. That first floor also has an anteroom where more people can get ready, which is ideal for sharing those moments with friends, family, or whoever you want to accompany you. A total win that not all wedding venues have!

The Lowlands Club has a vintage car museum

If your groom is a car enthusiast, he’s definitely going to love this! The cars are kept in a garage on the side of the garden, separated only by a large glass wall, so they are on display as a “complementary setting” and serve as a beautiful backdrop while you enjoy a delicious drink during the cocktail hour.

Even the façade is cinematic

Out front on Blanco Encalada, there are two classic English phone booths (for real!) that invite you to take photos and videos worthy of a movie. Don’t forget to take the time to snap a few shots there!

The challenges of the Lowlands Club:

Not everything can be perfect 😛 According to many of the couples we talk to, it is not usually an easy task to get in touch with the venue. As we mentioned, this venue is actually a club, and its members/owners (who are older) use and cherish it as such. The event space side is used only to cover expenses (which must be high due to its size and prime location), and therefore, we have been told that communication is not exactly one of their strong points when it comes to “selling” it. But hey, it’s just a matter of having patience and adapting… nothing worth having comes easy.

Another issue we find as wedding photographers and videographers is that the garden lighting is a bit poor for evening weddings. While it does have floodlights that illuminate the entire park, the type of light they emit is very greenish and unidirectional. Therefore, we always recommend: either schedule the timing to take advantage of daylight so that night falls just as the party gets started, or consider adding some extra lighting for the ceremony and/or reception. While this certainly isn’t a requirement (not at all!), we always recommend the classic “kermesse-style” string lights that provide a warm, even glow.

Conclusion: Do we recommend the Lowlands Club for weddings?

Definitely yes. If you are planning a small to medium-sized wedding of no more than 150 guests and most of your guests are from the Capital Federal area, Lowlands is the ideal venue. In general, if you are looking for a wedding with some outdoor space, you have to look at venues in the Northern Zone and Pilar. Our advice: arm yourself with patience to coordinate a meeting (watch out, this might have changed by the time you reach out) and make sure to go see it; we are sure you’ll love it!
